EduGuide is the principal funder and applied research partner for a flagship Capstone Project under the executive education program at IIM Calcutta. This initiative is being co-developed with some of India’s accomplished industry leaders, and aims to pioneer a transformative model for navigating international higher education pathways using advanced AI/ML modalities.
The Innovation Gap
While many EdTech platforms claim to use AI for program recommendations, current market offerings remain primarily rule-based, static filtering systems based on budget, grades, and global rankings. These tools offer speed, but lack contextual intelligence, decision depth, and longitudinal adaptability.
EduGuide, drawing from its real-world experience and student-first philosophy, identified the need for a true decision intelligence engine - a platform that could simulate, personalise, and strategise choices in real-time.
Research Focus
- Agentic AI Frameworks: to simulate goal-oriented student behavior and dynamically adapt pathways.
- Generative Models: to personalise journey narratives, test scenario outcomes, and model student profiles over time.
- Multi-Modal Feedback Loops: combining academic data, personal milestones, and goal evolution.
Objectives
- Create a high-precision, self-learning system for higher education planning.
- Enable differentiated advising pathways across cognitive styles and career domains.
- Empower students with actionable insight-not just recommendations-across their multi-year preparation journeys.
Strategic Relevance
The output of this Capstone will feed directly into EduGuide’s proprietary platform architecture, scaling its use across thousands of high-intent students. For academia, the project serves as a real-world sandbox for applied AI in career advisory, a domain still largely underexplored despite its vast societal impact.
